Good morning, Mr. Phelps. The man you are looking at is Justin T. iPhoneuser, one of our loyal TUAW readers. Recently, Justin's iPhone went kablooey and when he tried to restore, he found that his backups were corrupted. He lost a great deal of data and time, all because Time Machine hadn't backed up his iPhone's data. Your mission, Jim, should you choose to accept it, is to help Justin back up his data with Time Machine so he never has to face this kind of data loss again. As usual, should any of your team members be caught by Apple, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. This post will self-destruct in five seconds... Apple is going to make how many iPhone 3Gs!?

Section: Apple, Apple News, Rumors, iPhone + Communications, iPhoneBusinessWeek is reporting on analyst predictions for next year’s iPhone 3G numbers. One of our favorite analysts Gene Munster, from Piper Jaffray, sees a very optimistic future. Many analysts expect Apple (AAPL) to sell around 11 million iPhone 3Gs in 2008 and another 25 million in 2009. But perhaps the most optimistic forecast is from Piper Jaffray (PJC) analyst Gene Munster, who expects the company to sell 13 million this year and 45 million next year. BusinessWeek claims to have some information that points to Apple’s plans to build over 40 million iPhone 3Gs during the next 12 months. This is actually even more iPhone 3Gs than the optimistic Munster expects Apple to sell in that time frame, 52% more. Apple had no comment other than it expects to come through on its current goal of 10 million iPhone 3Gs in 2008. The article goes on to point out that it’s Apple’s expanded list of countries selling the iPhone that will be fueling the the larger numbers in the coming months. The addition of iPhones for sale at Best Buy stores can’t hurt, either. Until very recently, the real problem was being able to find an iPhone 3G to buy in the first place. So, with build numbers like these, I think getting an iPhone 3G won’t be the hard part, stomaching the monthly fees will be. But if Apple wants to keep selling iPhones, they need to fix all of the problems we’ve been hearing about lately. Munster isn’t phased by the glitches as they relate to his predictions, but an iPhone that works as advertised is an iPhone that sells a whole lot better. Just to add to the juice, Munster thinks Apple is going to announce cheaper iPhone models during Macworld in January. That would certainly help their numbers, but only time will tell how much of this is real. Via [BusinessWeek] Full Story » | Written by Jake Gaecke for Appletell. | Comment on this Article »
