CNN Money reports that BMO Capital Markets analyst Keith Bachman today cut Apple's stock target from $160 to $140 per share. Bachman says that the iPhone's growth is slowing and he remains skeptical on Apple's target...]]>

Gartner: Apple to double marketshare in 3 years

Information technology research firm Gartner is forecasting Mac market share to double by 2011. By 2011, Apple will double its U.S. and Western Europe unit market share in Computers. Apple’s gains in computer market share reflect as much on the failures of the rest of the industry as on Apple’s success. Apple is challenging its competitors with software integration that provides ease of use and flexibility; continuous and more frequent innovation in hardware and software; and an ecosystem that focuses on interoperability across multiple devices (such as iPod and iMac cross-selling) Apple’s current Mac marketshare stands at 7.57%, though it should be noted that that number only reflects those computers that go online. Gartner’s prediction would mean an increase to more that 15% of all online computers, a huge number for Apple, the company that has struggled with market share its whole life.
