Apple lowers iPod Shuffle price, plans new model

Section: Apple has recently cut the price of the one gig iPod Shuffle from $69 to $49 and also announced that a 2 gig model will be coming around later this month for only $69. At $49 the iPod Shuffle is the cheapest and smallest iPod ever, making it appealing to many more people. For about $50 this acts as a great USB storage device as well. “low-end MP3 players are starting to look like USB drives” - Yahoo News reported. This whole price cut is great for us as consumers and great for Apple as they will sell more iPods, but is this the end of life for the iPod Shuffle? The Newsfactor Network speculates that this may be a reflection that the iPod is now a mature product and may no longer be selling at a high cost. Apple has always seen competition in the MP3 market with other companies attempting to steal its market share. None have succeeded, but this price drop shows that Apple is ready to fight for its spot in the MP3 player market, and likely succeed. Disney produces first movie-license iPod game

Section: Applications, Games, Audio Video, iPod-Family All Apple iPods, expect for the iPod Shuffle, are preloaded with 3 games. Through the iTunes Store you may buy new games for your iPod and Disney has now produced the first movie-license iPod game. Disney Online Studios’ Pirates of the Caribbean: Aegir’s Fire is the new game and will be compatible with both the newer iPod Classic, the iPod Nano, and as well as the older 5th-generation iPod with video. You’ll be able to play in over 30 missions using the iPod’s click wheel as a boat’s steering wheel based in the popular Pirates of the Caribbean movie trilogy’s universe. The game also enables you to engage in “ship-to-ship” combat and users may upgrade their ships to bring on other well-known characters from the movies to enhance your game play. Head over to the iTunes Store and buy this game for your iPod for only $5 today. (Though that last sentence sounded very infomercial-esque, Apple doesn’t pay us.) If you do buy the game, be sure to comment and tell us how it is. Via [AppleInsider] Full Story » | Written by Nicholas Montgomery for Appletell. | Comment on this Article »
