Freeware Find: Karelia iMedia Browser 1.1.1

It's easy to get spoiled using Apple's Media Browser, that little tool that pops up in many of the iLife and iWork applications and provides access to photos, music, graphics, and movies. KavaSoft today announced KavaMovies 1.0, the Mac movie database. KavaMovies lets you organize the movies you’ve seen, the movies you want to see, and the movies in your collection. It connects to the internet and downloads tons of information about each of your movies in realtime. iOrbi has released Buddy the Bus, an application for the iPhone and iPod touch that lets kids read and listen to the story of Buddy, a big city bus with an even bigger heart, in five languages: English, Spanish, French, German and Japanese. In addition to offering readers a cute story, the app gives parents another avenue to introduce kids to a second (or third) language—which many child development experts believe lays a solid foundation for strong communication skills. Kids can flip back and forth between languages, and listen to the story with or without text on the screen. While not meant to replace any formal language instruction, the app can help build basic vocabulary and comprehension. Dare to be Creative today announced the release of iCombiner 1.3, the file merge utility for Mac OS X Tiger and Leopard. iCombiner is a productivity tool that can combine images, photos and scanned documents into a single PDF document. FotoMagico 2.6 now supports Aperture, Lightroom 2

The schedule for this summer’s Apple Camp has been announced by Apple. If you have a child between ages 8 and 12, be sure to snag one of the free (but limited) spaces for lessons on the creative aspects of a Mac, such as how to create a good Keynote presentation, how to capture, manage, and edit shots in iPhoto, how to make custom music in GarageBand, and videography tips with iMovie.  Registration is open now, so be sure to claim a spot ASAP.  Sessions last three hours and include a shirt, field guide, DVDs and CDs of your child’s masterpieces, along with other goodies picked up during giveaways along the way. Apple Camp '08 schedule posted

Today Apple posted the schedule for Apple Camp. Apple Camp is held at Apple retail stores for kids 8-12 to go learn about creative things like: making presentations with Keynote, taking and managing photos with iPhoto, creating music with GarageBand, and making movies with iMovie. Each sessions lasts about 3 hours and is available at all Apple retail locations. Kids attending will receive a DVD or CD with their creations on it, field guide, t-shirt, and will be able to get other giveaways. Best of all, Apple Camp is free though registration is required.Kids under 13 must have a parent/guardian present; otherwise, you'll have to bring an Apple permission slip (PDF link).
