iPhone SDK Downloads Top 100,000

CUPERTINO, California—March 12, 2008—Apple® today announced that more than 100,000 iPhone™ developers have downloaded the beta iPhone Software Development Kit (SDK) in the first four days since its launch on March 6. The iPhone SDK provides developers with the same rich set of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and tools that Apple uses to create its native applications for iPhone and iPod® touch.

News: Updated iPhone SDK reveals possible 3G iPhone chip

A string of code found in the latest version of the iPhone SDK, released yesterday, points to a new baseband chipset that may be included in the next-generation, 3G-capable iPhone. The iPhone SDK now includes OpenGL ES support for the iPhone (Aspen) simulator. Exec touts developing iPhone apps without the iPhone SDK (InfoWorld)

InfoWorld - There are more ways to develop applications for the Apple iPhone device than using the company's beta iPhone SDK. Through a combination of Microsoft and other technologies, developers can build a Web application for the iPhone, according to a speaker at the VSLive conference in San Francisco on Wednesday evening.

The latest beta build has an improved Interface Builder, with now drag-and-drop integration of graphical components which can be linked to Objective-C code created in Xcode. Beta 2 is a large 1.3GB download from Apple’s iPhone developer website. If you’re not already a registered developer, you can sign up in less than a minute with your Apple ID.
