Opening day of WWDC ‘08 appeared to kick off a string of software updates from Apple. Quicktime was updated to Quicktime 7.5 and iMovie has been updated to iMovie 7.1.2. Following close behind was an update to iDVD ‘08, which has been updated to iDVD 7.0.2. The download is 20.27MB.
Logging onto Apple’s support page, you’ll find that the update “fixes general compatibility issues, improves overall stability, and addresses a number of other minor issues.” However, if you are searching for additional information about the update, Apple isn’t talking about it. I’ve found that annoying, and always wished Apple would release more information about its updates.
iDVD users saw many additional features added to iDVD ‘08, including:
iDVD is considered the last step in the iLife process because it allows the user to bring all parts of the iLife software onto a DVD. Users can add digital photos, MP3 music, and QuickTime Movies to a DVD. You can then play it on a commercial DVD player.
Originally, iDVD was only available on Macs with a SuperDrive. However, it is now included with all new Macs at no additional charge. You can find additional fonts for iDVD by going to /Applications/iDVD.app/Contents/Resources/Fonts/
If you use iDVD '08 and haven't received the update, log onto the Apple support page and download iDVD 7.0.2. If you notice any changes beyond what we’ve mentioned, please let us know.
